అశోక్ తేజ చెప్పిన దాని ప్రకారం...ఆదిలాబాద్ జిల్లాలో గోండులు వాయించే ఓ వాయిద్యం పేరే ఈ సారంగి. వేణును ధరించినవాడు వేణుధరుడు అయినట్టుగానే సారంగిని ధరించినటువంటి యువతిని ముద్దుగా సారంగ దరియా అని వర్ణించినట్టు తెలిపారు.

Sarangi is a lute instrument, played by Bhaats, a sub sect to Banjaras. It is a combination of classical and folk instrument. It is made with eight lutes with a two side opened wood made base. Uttam Bhagath, who came from Parbhani in Maharashtra, says that he got the instrument from his father and they perform at marriages, rituals associated with birth and death, during Dasara and Diwali festivals by going from home to home. He says that there are many such Sarangi players in Maharashtra.
